Dropped Scones
Welcome to a delicious recipe for Dropped Scones..
You will love to tuck into these after a brisk afternoon walk in the countryside and if you have children, they will go down a
treat...freshly made spread with butter and jam, honey or even marmite if you like to have something savoury...
AND if by anychance you should have some left over, they are very good warmed up the next day and eaten with your bacon and egg
breakfast. Yet another scottish tradition...Read on to find out how I make Dropped Scones...
Ingredients
8oz Self Raising flour
3 tablespoons of golden castor sugar
milk
1/2teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 egg
1 teaspoon of cream of tartar...
Sieve the dry ingredients into a basin...make a well in the centre anhd drop in the egg and a little milk...
Beat well until smooth...then add enough milk to make a thick batter...
Grease your griddle...I use extra virgin olive oil for this...
when hot drop the mixture on in rounds...a tablespoon is a good measure...
when the surface rises and bubbles flip them over and brown the other side...
keep them warm and covered with tea towel until you are ready to tuck in...
Enjoy...
